In Journey to the Starting Line!, Gilbert intended to start his journey as a Pokémon Trainer, but the trio of Kanto starter Pokémon were scared off when Ash's Tauros stampeded through Professor Oak's house. It would evolve into Charmeleon by A Legendary Photo Op!, and then into Charizard during A League of His Own!. Trevor's Charmander first appeared in Summer of Discovery!. It would evolve into Charmeleon by its appearance in A Parent Trapped!.Ī Charmander starred in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate! as the leader of Team Go-Getters.Ī Charmander appeared in a flashback in Mega Evolution Special I as the unevolved form of Alain's Charizard. In addition to its defensive potential, Squirtle's shell has a rounded shape with grooves on its surface, which help minimize resistance in water and enable it to swim at high speeds. When threatened, Squirtle withdraws into its shell and squirts out water with vigorous force. When a Squirtle hatches, its shell is soft, but forms and hardens over time until it becomes resilient enough that prodding fingers will bounce off it. It evolves into Wartortle at level 16 onward, and into Blastoise at level 36 onward. However, unlike in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue Versions, Squirtle is obtainable alongside its fellow Kanto starters Bulbasaur and Charmander under special conditions in Pokémon Yellow Version, and relatively early on in Pokémon X and Y. Squirtle is also one of the Kanto region's three starter Pokémon. Squirtle is a small, blue, bipedal turtle-like creature, and is categorized within the Pokédex at #007 as the "Tiny Turtle Pokémon".
